Guan Ze Kai (Sui Sheng)

Guan Zekai was born in Kaiping, Guangdong, where he studied Chinese painting under Liu Qunxing, a second-generation master of the Lingnan school. He later apprenticed with several prominent Lingnan calligraphy and painting artists and worked in animation and background design at the Pearl River Film Company’s Times Animation Factory.

After moving to Canada in the 1980s, Guan founded Shih Tai Arts and Crafts. His practice focuses on Chinese dry ink painting and clerical script (隶书). He currently serves as the president of the China-Canada Calligraphy and Painting Exchange Association and has established research studios for dry ink painting in both Beijing and Taishan, Guangdong.

Exhibitions and Recognition Guan’s work has been exhibited across Canada, the U.S., China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. He was awarded the "Golden Medal Award for Overseas Chinese Artists" by the Chinese Times.
